6 May: Hiked 19.7 miles from Blue Mountain shelter to Top of Georgia Hostel. Tough, long slog. Trail magic crossing first road off mountain; kind people passing out free food and drinks. Ate sausage and bacon sandwich, hotdog, coffee and took gatorade for the trail. Threw away trash and gave away MSR stove and bottle. Stayed night at Top of Georgia Hostel $25 +$5 for laundry. Hostel provided a shuttle into Hiawassee and I ate BBQ with Ryan and John.
7 May. Departed hostel at 1030 with Steve, Ryan and John and hiked 12.5 to Muskrat Creek Shelter and tented at 4,567 ft. elevation. Dropped into 30s during the night. Crossed into the NC border along the way.
8 May. Hiked 21.2 miles today, tenting at the Long Branch Shelter. Rest and resupply in Franklin, NC tomorrow. Passed the 100 mile mark from Springer Mountain.
