9 May. Hiked 7.2 miles to Winding Stair Gap. Shuttled to Budget Inn and split a room with Steve, Ryan and John. John has taught us how to share our location on google maps with family and friends. While eating lunch in Franklin, NC at the Motor Company Grill, a waitress from another section walked by looking for “Redbull,” John’s trail name. John’s mother tracked him using the App and had the waitress tell us that she was paying for everyone’s lunch because it was John’s birthday. Thank you Ma’am.
We all did some shopping at a local hiker store and resuupplied at a local grocery store. That evening we had beer at a local hiker pub.
We have a long way to go.
10 May: I reluctantly gave in to accepting an AT trail name this morning after pondering a few days over John’s suggestion of “Snorelax.” I was rejecting suggested names, left and right and finally gave in. Anyhow, I snore, so I can accept the name with humor. Who wants to set up there tent next to Snorelax, We hiked 21.5 miles today to tent vicinity of Wesser Bald Shelter at an elev. of 4075 ft.
